Finally finished watching FLOWER OF THE QUEEN (2015)
Wow! What a beautiful TV series. Yes, it may not be perfect, but such is life. I love the fact that there is no one purely evil in this series, and no black or white characters. Each person has his or her own struggles and own daemons to fight.
THE REASON I WATCHED THIS SERIES:
To be honest I am a "late bloomer" when it comes to having a harmless crush on Lee Hyeong Cheol/Lee Hyung Chul/Lee Hyong Chol. I only started to have a crush on him after watching PASTA(2010) just recently, but some of my friends and acquaintances have been crushing on him for a very long time now. I had fangirl posts about him while watching Pasta, but when I met Dorsa who has a great fan page for him on Instagram, I removed my posts. I just visit Dorsa's page once in awhile when I miss him. LOL.
His role, Doctor Seo In-cheol/Seo Inchul, is such an incorrigible character. From start to finish he is a throbbing pain in the nape. Like, "Is he even human at all?" Some characters even have the same thought bubble about him. Thankfully, there are glimpses of his being human, but even the extortionist/thug Kim Doshin is better than him. At least Kim Doshin had some sort of redeeming factor. Seo In-cheol is definitely the most despicable character in the TV drama series. Thankfully, I know "it's just a role", because he is so believably bad that I want to throw my shoes at him. I was intending to watch GOOD FOR YOU next, but since DESERT SPRING(OASIS) is only a three-part mini series, so I started watching it instead.
The Series:
There are seven love stories in this series: Rena and In-Cheol, Heera and Tae Soo, Jae Joon and Yi Sol, Min Joon and Rena, In-Cheol and Hye Jin, Dongoo and Yu Ra (spoiler alert, but "how"?), and Samshik and Soon Yi(spoiler--hehehehe), but the story focuses on two pairs, plus the twisted minds of soul sisters Ma Heera and Choi Hye Jin, who are trying to split the two pairs. I gotta hand it to these "wenches", they are patient(sorta, kinda) because they planned everything for thirty years. Sigh. Heera should have just learned to love The Chairman, Park Taesoo, but she couldn't. Argh.
There are many "out of this world" scenes, but most of the scenes are very realistic and relatable.
Speaking of relatable, my maternal grandfather's brother married my great grandmother, the mother of my maternal grandmother. If that didn't happen, my great aunt/auntie wouldn't exist, so I'm glad so-called "twist of fate relationships" are not really "taboo" in the Philippines, or else a lot of people wouldn't exist. I was thinking about that the whole time while watching this series.
Oh, by the way, I love the ending, but if you want spoilers, just search the net or just go HERE to watch the final episode.
I am not going to write a review anymore because RINCHAN76's thoughts verbalized mine:
Victoria Amazonica. A. Second-day flower (diam. of expanded petals ca. 25–30 cm.) with internal petals starting to change color from white to red. B. First-evening flower with closed white petals, in pistillate stage, being approached by its pollinating beetle, Cyclocephala hardyi. C. Cut flower showing the pollination chamber and one beetle. D. Reddish, second-evening flower with expanded petals, in staminate stage. The beetles, covered with pollen grains, are coming out of the pollination chamber; some beetles are mating before flying off. Flowers open white but turn pinkish to rose-purple on the second to third days as they age. This species was grown at Kew Gardens in England during the reign of Queen Victoria. Genus name honors Queen Victoria (1819-1901). Specific epithet means from the region of the Amazon River. (source)
