Start-Up 스타트업 : Team GOOD BOY (2020)
While looking at the posters and the premise of the show it is "safe" to surmise that Nam Do San is the one Seo Dal-Mi is going to end up with.
The way the story is going, it is clear that the people behind the scenes want Do San to be the one Dal-Mi chooses, even if Ji Pyeong is the popular choice.
AM I CHOOSING JI PYEONG BECAUSE HE IS THE POPULAR CHOICE?
Of course not. When the story started I really thought that he was the central character, and I just "hate" that Yeong(Young) Sil(the virtual assistant who is like a fortune teller) gave a prediction that he would see someone from his past like a gentle breeze or something, making those who weren't able to read the premise think he's the leading character, but in truth, it's Do San. I was given false hopes, along with the many viewers watching "with me".
I chanced upon Start-Up while waiting for the next episode of DO DO SOL SOL LA LA SOL(which also stars Seo Yi Sook(Yoon Sun-Hak in Start-Up) and Kim Joo-Hun(Dal-Mi and Injae's dad) I watched it alternately with I HEAR YOU(of course I did other things---LOL). I just clicked it then fell in love with the story during the first episode then searched the net to read about it. I was so shocked to see the posters where I learned that Halmeoni(Kim Hae Sook)'s GOOD BOY isn't (well, it's ongoing) the leading man of her grandchild, Dal-Mi. More often than not, the guy on the promotional posters is the one the female antagonist ends up with, and for me it's unfair.
If "they" wanted the viewers to go for Do San, they shouldn't have made us fall in love with Ji Pyeong's character. He should have just continued being Halmeoni's ghostwriter and didn't write Dal-Mi passionately, giving her courage, and making her fall for the REAL HIM.
Yes, he had lots of chances to come clean, but in REAL LIFE we do battle with inner turmoils that most of time make it harder to do so. Besides, when he wanted to tell Dal-Mi everything, Halmeoni stopped him.
"They" even made Ji Pyeong's character so bossy with lots of tongue-lashings, making Do San the hero of Dal-Mi's heart. As the story progresses "they" are making it so obvious that "they" want team "BIG HANDS" to win because he is the true main character, and Ji Pyeong is just the second lead.
Honestly, I didn't feel or see the chemistry between Dal-Mi and Do San when they kissed for the first time. I am not talking about the acting...they were good, but...how do I say this? The first kiss made me feel, at the very least, that it was just a first kiss, but when Ji Pyeong's time came, he'll have a steamier one. Wishful thinking!
Besides, when Dal-Mi finally learned the truth, he could have "used" the situation to convince Dal-Mi that Do San didn't feel anything for her, and he was just using HIS memories, but he didn't.
When he implied to Do San that he and Dal-Mi were a couple so he could stop him from going to Dal-Mi during one of her lowest points, he told Dal-Mi what happened, and for me that was very noble of him.
Sigh.
I am hoping against hope that POSTER BOY with Big Hands should just meet someone else or something, but somehow I know that is not what "they" want, or else they wouldn't have made Nam Do San's parents so involved.
I am also hoping that I am wrong, and that "they" have decided to make Dal-Mi to end up with Ji Pyeong after all.
I agree with the article where the photo was "borrowed" from: Shouldn't the male lead switch?" 'Start-Up's Han Ji Pyeong has a huge lead over Nam Do San in a popularity poll
