VINCENZO(2021) 빈센조. (first ten episodes)

This is a poster for Vincenzo (TV series). The poster art copyright is believed to belong to tvN.
The post of my cousin/goddaughter, Denise Jo M. Duhaylungsod, on IG, led us to this series.  since both dad and I like the series, we thank her for the information.

Regret is the most painful thing you can experience in life.” -Vincenzo #VincenzoEp1 (later, in episode 3, he will mention this to Hong Cha Young)

VINCENZO is a Dark Comedy with heavy subject matters, similar, but not the same with, The BOURNE Series created by ROBERT LUDLUM(the Bourne series is not a dark comedy, just to be clear).

Dark Comedy  is a style of comedy that makes light of subject matter that is generally considered taboo, particularly subjects that are normally considered serious or painful to discuss. Wikipedia

I honestly couldn't take the lab scenes(Robocop has scenes like this one too) where humans are the "lab rats".  There are people fighting for animal rights(against lab rats and other animal testing), but what about human rights?

I know how important research and development is, but testing a human being to the point of even losing that human being's life in the name of science is making the R and D team of Babel Pharm devils in disguise.   Argh!  Later on, when they become expendable,  they experience how to burn in hell. Another Big ARGH!

SOME MOVIES THAT BELONG IN THE DARK COMEDY CATEGORY THAT I HAVE SEEN IN THE PAST:

and many more

Basing on the poster alone it is safe to surmise that there's going to be a love story between Vincenzo and Cha Young.  Do I see chemistry between them in this first four episodes?  Not yet.  Hopefully as the story progresses I would see some spark or something.

  • intern random

By the way, another important character in this series is the intern from the USA, a man who has a thing for Atty. Hong Cha Yong,  is played by OK TAECYEON whom I first met in CINDERELLA'S STEPSISTER, then later on in DREAM HIGH.  He, Ok TaeCyeon, speaks English well because his family immigrated to the US when he was ten.  He studied there, but kept being a Korean in his heart.  He's not much of a heartthrob here, probably because he is not Vincenzo, but he still played/plays(it is an ongoing series after all, and scripts are written in the present tense) his part well.  Honestly I wss wondering why he was given that kind of a role, but the mystery was answered towards the end of episode 4.  His role turns out to be super significant. To those who watched the first four episodes, I am certain that you know what I am talking about...and that is why, dear reader(s), he is one of the main characters.

⚖⚖⚖⚖⚖
Yoo-chan introduces Vincenzo to makgeolli, and after several drinks, Vincenzo brings up Yoo-chan's public defender work. ... Yoo-chan shares that he named his firm “jipuragi” (which means “straw”) because he's often the last straw his clients can grasp-Episode 2(Drama Beans)

Episodes 3 and 4 are quite heavy.  My heart is wrenched to the point of almost making me breathless. 💔💔💔💔💔

Episodes 5 and 6 would show how a monster would defeat another monster.

☠☠☠☠☠
Former Prosecutor Choi looked like someone who was wronged in the first episodes, but she's EVIL(Spoiler? It depends on how you look at it.).  Really, really evil.  Tsk, tsk, tsk!

Writer Park Jae Bum, who has penned the Song Joong Ki starrer Vincenzo, had nothing but praises for the Hallyu star

Incidentally, this is my favorite scene from Episodes 7 and 8 ( end of episode 7, start of episode 8)

In episodes 7 to 10, the "battle" between the invisible enemy and our two main stars will be worse, but little by little, the chemistry between the ML and the FL will be evident.

💔💔💔💔
My heart broke in pieces while watching episode nine.  A group of people posted something about their trip publicly, which led to their demise.  There were lots of deaths before theirs, and I felt really, really bad, but it was only the second time I cried in this series.  The first one was when a certain person who was getting close to Vincenzo's heart died.  I just felt my heart getting broken, then the two parts trying to be sewn back or being wrenched as one.  Ouch.

The same episode also showed that no matter how smart a person is, he could still be watched by people stealthily.

My favorite supporting character:
An employee for the International Crime Response Division specializing in Italian organized crime. He goes undercover by becoming a protégé for Chef Toto so that he could spy on Vincenzo secretly. (Wikipedia). He is just so funny and adorable.

Vincenzo promotes Maxim Coffee.  One of my favorite brands(disclaimer: I am not being paid for this).

Vincenzo episode 10 recap – luring out the real boss of Babel

I simply just can't wait for the next episodes.  My next blog about this would be after the last episode.

Thanks for dropping by.

Wait a moment...

I am trying to recall if this is a misquote or wrong translation or not:  According to Vincenzo, he quoted this from Les Miz"Justice is right only when it is impeccable."  I honestly tried to look for it in my Victor Hugo classic book, but when I got tired, I Googled it, but I couldn't find it.  Am I a bad researcher or what?  Please enlighten me, WON-HYANG SON OR SON WON-HYANG(the translator/provider of subtitles of that episode).  Thank you!
