The official movie poster of This Time (film) a 2016 romance drama film by Viva Films.
Ava Buhay, 21, who is ever loyal with her childhood best friend, Coby Martinez, 21, hopes that one day their special friendship will turn into a beautiful romance. However, the time they get to see each other is only during summer vacation. Until one summer, Coby needs to go to U.S to help his grandfather, Lolo Melchor, find his long lost love, Ofelia. Hence, this is the last time they’re going to see each other. This long distance “just friends” relationship lasts for years. Because of this, the chance to have a romantic relationship becomes elusive for both of them. After three years, fortunately, they get a chance to see each other again during Ava’s Japan trip. While Ava is up for an art workshop in Japan, Coby and Lolo Melchor are set to search for Ofelia. In this quest of love of Lolo Melchor, could this also be the right time for Coby and Ava to admit what they truly feel for each other?-WeTV

(May tanong ako: Summer ng Pilipinas o summer ng ibang bansa?)

For one reason or another I was not able to watch this JaDine film five years ago. Thankfully, through WeTV I was able to enjoy this film in the comfort of our own home.

This movie is about summer "love" and a long distance "special friendship" relationship that finally gets to have another chance to be more than "special friends" in Japan.  Hmm...even if Japan is not as big as the US of A according to the different Atlases or maps, it's still big, but because the universe conspired for them to meet again, they were able to at the very least TRY to rekindle whatever it was between them, or something. (I loved the scenes in Japan)

Their journey to forever had lots of bumps and bruises, but thankfully, the people around them, their voices of reason, kept them sane.

My favorite quote from Jonathan Livingston Seagull is

Can miles truly separate you from friends.... If you want to be with someone you love, aren't you already there? ~Richard Bach

So I guess their young hearts tried very much to be loyal to one another even if their relationship did not have a label, but of course it was inevitable that there would tests that they would fail at times.

The endings for feel good movies are always predictable, but those things that happen in between aren't so I believe this movie is worthy of your time, not only for our leads, but also for the people around them.

Anyways, here are two reviews the verbalized most of my thoughts:
