Paulo Coelho praises 2018 KDrama ‘My Mister’
- My Mister at IMDb
- My Mister at Studio Dragon (in Korean)
- My Mister at Chorokbaem Media (in Korean)
- My Mister at Daum (in Korean)
Funny me. I read several reviews and watched some global comments on youtube before watching this. (Almost) Everyone was saying, "Don't quit watching the series after two episodes. Watch it until the end because it eventually would amaze you...it will give you a good feeling in the end." (not verbatim). One thing's for sure, even those who didn't say the gist of those words really, really loved the story, directing, acting, et cetera.
Some of the reviews gave LOTS of spoilers, but watching those scenes the reviewers spoiled for me were still very special experiences.
Paulo Coelho didn't think he would survive all sixteen episodes, but he did. I am glad I listened to the suggestions of the different reviewers.
IU and LEE SUN-KYUN should have another project with them as the lead characters. I loved watching them, and their chemistry is great.
I "met" IU or Lee Ji-eun in DREAM HIGH, and even then I was already impressed with her that I researched about her, listened to her songs, et cetera, et cetera. If I was impressed with her performance in Dream High, I had extra respect for her in YOU'RE THE BEST!, and if I had extra respect for her in You're the Best, I even have more respect for her now because here in My Mister she showed that she's more the SK's "younger sister". She's also a person to watch out for GLOBALLY. Well, she is already known worldwide, but she still has much more to offer. I believe that in my heart.
Girls think of as handsome
To my heart he carries the key
Speaking of Kim Yeong-min, his role here is very different from his role in CLOY, even if this movie is also about wiretapping, and I must say I am very impressed with his versatility. He is very despicable here in My Mister. You might say there are worse people that him, and I will tell you, "Well, I am not talking about them!" In this movie is the worst. Yes, even worse than JUNG JAE-SUNG's role, Director Yun Sang-Tae, who keeps shouting at everyone lower than him, even in company dinners for the staff.
LEE JI-AH's role as the beautiful cheating wife used by the handsome young CEO for his manly wiles, and to probably spite his sunbae who is "ranked" much lower than him, was given justice by her. She is also a lawyer here, and her character's role in "society" will play an important role in the story. Her character is not really a bad person, per se, and it's pretty obvious that she cares for her husband as a human being and as the father of their only child, at the very least.
Almost everyone in this series is versatile, most especially the two other main characters, Park Dong Hoon's siblings played by PARK HO-SAN(Park Sang Hoon) and SONG SAE-BYEOK (Park Ki Hoon).
The supporting actors, like the two Naras for example, are like chameleons. They can be good, evil, funny et cetera. One can even pretend not to know how to act. They are definitely true thespians.
Special mention goes to Ji-an's halmeoni played by SON SOOK, also known for her great acting on stage. Her performance as Ji-an's deaf grandmother is jaw-dropping. Well, I shouldn't be surprised. She's a seasoned actor/actress.
Son Sook Praises IU For Her Acting Skills
I like the side stories and the way the different issues were tackled.
As I mentioned before I have read a lot of spoilers, but there were many scenes that weren't so predictable, and some not even predictable at all. True, there were those predictable scenes, but how it's going to happen might still surprise you.
I am not going to review this further. Just read some of the reviews I have chosen to share if you wish:
